Wellmate Captive Air Tanks
WM Series
Fiberglass-Bladder Type-Captive Air Tanks

WM Series captive air tanks are the ideal choice for new or replacement installations in residential, light commercial and pressure boosting applications. A captive air tanks purpose is to reserve pressurized water supplied by the pump. A captive air tank will supply its reserved volume of pressurized water until the pressure switch in the system turns the pump back on to take over the demand and supply the captive air tank another recharge. A captive air tanks primary purpose is to protect a pump motor from *short cycling. *Short cycling is the rapid turning on and off the pump. This will overheat the start winding in a single phase motor causing premature motor failure. The volume of water (draw down) a captive air tank holds is important in its selection of the correct size needed to protect the pump from *short cycling. The size required is based on the recharge time needed by the pump to meet the motors minimum run time for proper cooling between cycles. The proper selection of a captive air tank will increase your pumps life.

Low Profile Series are designed for height restricted applications such as mobile homes, crawl spaces and closets.
