Reliable built-in spring loaded check valves let you operate the pump in any position from vertical to horizontal.

Rugged Design The SQ SQE pump design uses "floating" impellers. Each impeller has its own tungsten carbide/ceramic bearing. This design and the high quality of materials make the pump very wear resistant, especially in sandy conditions.

Permanent-Magnet Motor
The SQ and SQE motors are based on a permanent-magnet rotor which produces high efficiency output within a wide load range. The high and flat efficiency curve of the permanent-magnet motor allows us to cover a wide power range with the same motor, as compared to conventional AC motors. For SQE pumps, this means three motors to cover the horsepower range from 1/3 to 1.5 Hp.

Advanced Electronics
By combining advanced electronics, permanent-magnet motors, and Grundfos' own micro-frequency converter, we are now able to control and communicate with pumps in ways never before possible. A few of the features that come out of this combination are Constant Pressure Control, Soft-Start and integrated Dry-Run Protection.

The Grundfos SQ pump does not require a control box. Grundfos SQ pumps are commonly wired directly to a pressure switch in a cycling system. Pressure tank capacity for cycling systems should be a minimum of 3X the pump GPM to avoid short cycling.

Grundfos SQ pumps also come in many 1/2HP, 115 volt models that require only 10% over P1 to start. [example 1/2HP - (P1=1.02kw) x 110% = 1122 watts].
This is far less than most submersible pumps at start up making this pump selection your best choice when using on a generator.

NOTE: The MS3 motors for SQ pumps are built to withstand up to a 4000V transient spike (IEC 60664-1, Overvoltage category III). However, lightning can generate voltages that exceed this level, and additional transient protection devices are recommended to protect the submersible motor in areas with a high degree of lightning activity. The following transient protection device has been tested successfully together with the SQ pump, and can therefore be recommended: Delta Lightning Arrestors - Type LA 602.

NOTE; Don't confuse feet in the graph with a measurement of depth to water or well depth. Feet of head is a calculation of several inputs (converted to feet) for a total calculation of vertical lift in feet required of the pump at a specific GPM.

After a calculation of total head in feet has been made, simply go to a chart of the GPM required. Start by drawing a line straight up from the GPM required. Next go to the left side of graph, find the total calculation in feet and draw a line horizontally. The pump curve just above the intersection of your lines will be the pump that meets your calculation data.
